It’s November 1st, AKA the day when everyone complains about Halloween on social media. So far, my feed is filled with the usual vents about how trunk or treats have ruined Halloween.

I get why some people are upset about trunk or treats, but they didn’t kill Halloween. They just made it easier for more families to enjoy the holiday.

Before you complain about trunk or treats and other spooky festivities, remember these 5 things:

Divorce and separation agreements can interfere with holidays

Some custody orders have parents alternate holidays every other year, while others have parents follow a set schedule regardless of special events. Because of this, many parents don’t get a chance to spend Halloween with their kids.

Trunk or treats give kids with divorced or separated parents a chance to enjoy Halloween festivities with everyone they love. Each parent gets a chance to see their kids decked out in their favorite costumes, and kids can create special memories with their mom and dad.
