I’m so sorry. I’ve been where you are, although my family’s story has a happy ending. My son also has autism and ADHD. When he was younger, he was suspended frequently and finally kicked out of his school because he was so violent.
Four years later, he’s in a regular middle school and is participating in things like the school band. Sometimes I cry because I can’t believe how far he’s come.
With that being said, I understand this day doesn’t come for everyone. I used to literally beg him to stop attacking his teachers when he was younger. At the time he was doing music therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, a social skills group, and other things that I’m forgetting. It still wasn’t enough. Sometimes nothing is enough.
