Reviewing the alphabet with him and having him write letters on his Boogie Board — a gadget that comes in handy since a traditional pencil and paper set his senses on fire.

I'll have to look into this. My 10 year old is currently in occupational therapy for his sensory issues, one of which is touching paper. It's physically uncomfortable for him.
