I wish more people understood this. I've been a full-time writer for about 15 years, and people are always like, "I want to do what you do!" Well, that's great and all, but they don't know all the work I put in behind the scenes.
My grammar was shit when I started my writing career, so I had to study sites like Grammar Girl and Purdue OWL constantly. I made less than a penny per word at Textbroker yet still managed to make $300+ a week sometimes. It's because I wrote A LOT. It was hard work, and I was exhausted, but I knew every article brought me closer to my long-term goal of being a successful writer who actually deserved to have this career.
