Thunderous sounds filled her head as she saw the snake striking at her. The shaman guided her to stop the attack, to transform the snake in her mind into a benevolent, smiling, beautiful, and loving goddess, to see it waving goodbye, dissolving into pure light, and disappearing.

I should try this with wasps. Snakes don't really bother me, but I'll park my car in the middle of the road and run out screaming if a wasp gets inside.
