I Can’t Draw, But My Son Can

I’m impressed by his skills

“That’s the Blues logo, right?” my son asked, pointing to a hockey photo on the wall.

I nodded, explaining that many of the healthcare workers were Blues fans. A few minutes later, my son handed me a sheet of paper. He had sketched the Blues logo, along with several designs inspired by his favorite football teams.

I was impressed. My toddler niece draws better than me, and I also suck at painting. I’m proud of my son’s talent. I’m even happier that drawing is something he actually likes doing.

It’s November now, which means the sun begins setting just 30 minutes after my kids get home from school. This is hard on us. We’re outdoor people.

My son used to beg for video games when darkness came, but now he grabs his notebook and sketches animals or characters. I hope he sticks with this hobby over the years.

Can you tell a story in 150 words or less? I decided to try after learning about Oren Cohen’s 30 Day Medium Writing Challenge — today is day #6 for me. Today’s prompt was “let’s write about a skill we wish we had.” Is there a skill you’d like to learn?
