After nearly two decades of parenting, I’ve discovered that snow days are just like the COVID-19 pandemic. At first, people like staying home and claim it’s the safest decision. A few days later, nobody cares about a foot or ten of snow on the roads.

My kids were off for a few days last week and ended up with a 5-day weekend. Here’s how most parents on social media handled the break:

Potential snow day #1

OMG, they better cancel school! There is half an inch of snow on the road, and my baby does not need to be out in that!

I’m thinking about ordering pizza for dinner but nobody should have to drive in this nasty weather.

Snow day #1

Yay, no school for my babies! Can’t wait to snuggle in our jammies and drink hot cocoa all day. I think I’ll make french toast and cinnamon rolls too.

Snow day #2

Woot! An extra day to cuddle with my kiddos!

There’s about 2 inches of snow on the roads, so be careful out there. We’re having pancakes for breakfast.

Snow day #3
