I took a sip of water and listened intently as my pastor continued his sermon, sharing words of truth and encouragement with a room full of attentive worship goers.
“Whatever you do, glorify God,” he instructed, looking up from his notes to meet our gazes.
“ Glorify God in everything you do.” he repeated, describing the message from 1 Corinthians 10:31.
It’s a verse many of us have heard before, even if we haven’t been part of the Christian scene for long. I’ve listened to worshipers share these words since I was a child, yet they never fully clicked until that Sunday. I sat in my chair, silently repeating my pastor’s words to myself, when it hit me: Honoring God with my actions and attitude could change my entire life.
I went home that day and cleaned my house happily, singing along with the Christian rap my kids put on my Amazon Music playlist. I wiped down counters and scrubbed dishes willingly instead of mumbling words under my breath that definitely aren’t in the Bible, and I thought about how thankful I was to have my home.
I don’t have a fancy house; in fact, I don’t even have a house at all. I’ve spent the last 7 years in a trailer park, but aside from having no basement, I like it here. My walls are covered with framed pics from family…
