Here’s What Happens When You Write One Sentence a Day
“I’ll never finish my novel,” my writer buddy complained. “I haven’t worked on it in months. I just don’t have time.”
I pondered her predicament for a moment, then replied, “Write one sentence a day.”
Surprised, my friend replied, “I never thought about that.”
“Little things add up,” I explained, “and you can always do more when you’re in the mood. At the end of the year, you’ll have at least 365 sentences.”
Approximately 10 months later, my novelist pal completed her book. After a few minor revisions, it was ready for publication. The entire process took about a year.
This book might still be unpublished if my author friend hadn’t written a little each day. Writing an entire novel can be overwhelming, but breaking a big project into small chunks makes the process easier.
The same is true about other writing work, whether you’re creating a blog, publishing an eBook, or working on Medium posts. Don’t stress about carving out an hour or two for your daily writing. Write a sentence a day, and your work will get done eventually.
