Friends of Medium: How Do I Join?

I keep getting error messages when I try to upgrade my Medium membership

I’ve been hearing about the perks of Friends of Medium all year. Joining seems like a reasonable investment, but I can’t figure out how to do that.

I’m already a regular member and part of the Partner Program. I just can’t figure out how to upgrade.

My account settings don’t have an option to upgrade. I’ve been checking for weeks, but nothing is there.

I tried upgrading via the Medium Membership link, as shown above, with no luck. I keep getting a 500 error with a message that says, “Apologies, something went wrong on our end.”

I’m out of ideas, and Google doesn’t have any suggestions either.

Anybody else having this problem? How did you solve it?
