As the mother of a gay child, I appreciate this article. I recently had to distance myself from a guy in my life after he started making comments like "What do you think made your daughter gay?".

He also kept sending me memes making fun of trans people, even after I asked him to stop. Normally I'd just cut him out of my life right away, but he was a guy I've known since I was young. Because of this (and I regret this decision now), I initially tried to keep the peace by saying, "Look, I get that we have a different opinion on transgender folks, so let's agree to disagree and just not speak about it." He refused to drop it and kept sending memes, articles, videos, etc. along with links to articles that say gay people are going to hell. I told him that's between my child and God, not anybody else.
