Annoying Things Cashiers Wish Customers Would Stop Doing
Former cashier here. I enjoyed my job most of the time because I’m a social person. Cashiering gave me a chance to chat with everyone from little kids buying candy bars with their piggy bank change to senior citizens on food stamps.
However, running the checkout can quickly get stressful, and it’s often because of rude or high-maintenance shoppers. Like most cashiers, I had a list of pet peeves that I racked up over the years.
In no particular order, here are 15 customers who irritate cashiers:
1) Pushy religious people
I believe in a higher power, so you don’t need to lecture me as I scan your groceries. I’m happy to learn about God on my own time — not while there are 5 people with full carts behind you.
Also, now is not the time to hand out religious pamphlets or tell cashiers that they’re going to hell.
2) Shoppers who write checks
