An Acquaintance Has COVID and Isn’t Quarantining

I thought I was open-minded about folks ignoring COVID precautions until this happened

I’ve barely slept this week because I’m so disturbed by the actions of an acquaintance. For the sake of anonymity, we’ll call her Jessie.

Jessie currently has COVID. Yes, Jessie is aware she has COVID. In fact, she’s mentioned that she’s never felt this sick in her life.

Despite her horrible symptoms, Jessie doesn’t give a fuck about COVID precautions and refuses to quarantine. She’s still going to work each day, and no, she doesn’t telecommute. Her career requires some light travel throughout the community, and she’s exposed to multiple people each day. Yes, her boss was notified by someone (not me), but I guess he doesn’t care about COVID either. The CDC says that ignoring quarantine recommendations isn’t a criminal offense in every state.

But let’s get back to our lovely friend who has been gallivanting around town. When I shared this situation with another acquaintance, they asked if Jessie at least wears a mask now that she’s sick with COVID. The answer is no, Jessie doesn’t believe in masks, so she doesn’t wear one while she works. Or ever.
