50 Things I’m Ditching in 2023
This year was crazy.
But let’s be honest: I say that every December. The holiday season makes me nostalgic, and I tend to reflect on the past while preparing for my future.
Either way, I learn more about myself each year. This is important because it helps me set goals — and boundaries.
With that in mind, here are 50 things that won’t make it to 2023 with me. Maybe some of these will resonate with you as well.
- Selfish friends: I’m tired of friends who leave back-to-back audio messages daily — sometimes for 30 or 60 minutes — about their lives yet don’t have 15 seconds to respond to a short text about my day. I wish you well in 2023.
- People who treat me like their therapist: I’m happy to listen to your problems sometimes, but I can’t deal with your trauma dumping 24/7. That’s not how friendship works.
- People who pressure me to drink: I live a sober life, and I have no plans to change that. Stop pressuring me to drink.
- One-sided relationships: I’m not doing all the work in the relationship, regardless of whether we’re friends, family, or romantically involved.
- Spammy friends: If I’m good enough to get bombarded with messages…
